All the Ways John Fetterman’s Broken With His Party
Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania has made it a habit of zigging where other Democrats zag. (Politico)
The latest: Fetterman on Tuesday became the first Democratic senator to post to Truth Social, President-elect Trump’s social media platform, criticizing the gun and tax charges against Hunter Biden.
But the real story was Fetterman calling Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prosecution of Trump, “bullsh*t.”
Why Trump won: During an appearance on “The View” last week, Fetterman said Democrats’ messaging was “condescending” and “insulting” to male and working class voters.
Speaking to The New York Times last month, the Pennsylvania Democrat said his party needed to stop catastrophizing about Trump.
“We’re not even at Thanksgiving, and Democrats just can’t stop losing our minds every fifteen minutes. We really need to pace ourselves, or, you know, for FFS, just grab a grip,” he said.
Trump Cabinet: In November, Fetterman was one of the few Senate Democrats to applaud reports Trump was nominating Sen. Marco Rubio, a Florida Republican, for secretary of state.
Elon: While Elon Musk is a bogeyman to most Democrats, Fetterman this month praised the Tesla and X CEO, saying he admires him and that Musk is "on a different team, but that doesn't make me an enemy."
Israel: Fetterman’s unabashed support for Israel in the Gaza War has outraged many Democratic supporters of Palestine.
