Americans Don’t Want This
Kamala Harris’ support for factoring race into government contracts isn’t well-received by most voters.
The latest: The policy agenda Harris released last week contains an explicit endorsement of the Biden-Harris' administration’s race-based government contracting policies.
Harris’ platform on small business:
She has led the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to increase access to capital for small businesses and bring venture capital to parts of middle America that have for too long been overlooked, driving a record 19 million new business applications, tripling the Small Business Administration’s lending to Black-owned businesses, and more than doubling small-dollar lending to Latino and women-owned businesses. She has also championed expanding federal contracts for minority-owned small businesses.
The vibes: A Manhattan Institute poll from July found 71% of voters, including 64% of Latinos and 69% of independents, say the government should not consider race when making decisions on hiring and awarding contracts.
60% of voters, including a plurality of Latinos, say it’s unfair the government favors black and Hispanic-owned businesses when it comes to handing out contracts.
